Learn to Skate
The focus of Danvers Youth Hockey's Learn to Skate (LTS) programs are designed to teach beginner hockey players the fundamentals of skating. LTS will focus on basic skating skills that will form the foundation for a great hockey player in the future. But above all, we strive to ensure all kids are having fun and love being on the ice!
Ages
LTS is designed for kids 8 & under.
When
Throughout the hockey season (September through April) DYH has approximately 3 sessions of Learn to Skate. Each session is about 10 times on the ice.
Where
Typically Learn to Skate is held at Essex Sports Center 15 Manning Road Middleton.
Practices
LTS is held once a week.
Frequently Asked Questions
What equipment is needed for Learn to Skate?
Skates, Helmet and gloves are required. DYH encourages helmets that have face guards. Milk crates can be used but are not required and not provided by DYH.
Can parents help and get on the ice?
Parents are welcome to help on the ice. Anyone on the ice must be able to skate and wear a helmet. Anyone wanting to be on the ice must email DYHCommunications@gmail.com.
Learn to Skate 24/25 Session 1
Learn to Skate teaches kids how to skate. Milk crates (not provided by DYH) can be used when starting out before progressing to unassisted skating.
When skaters have developed required strength, footwork and balance on skates they can progress to Hockey 101 or Learn to Play.
LTS is designed for kids 8 & under.
Learn to Skate will be held Friday @ 4:20PM at Essex Sports Center for 10 weeks
